Exalto’s partnership wins “Smart Cities” tender

The “Overgrid” project is among the proposals selected by the Ministry of Research considered of high strategic level within the “Smart Cities” tender.

The project, with a total budget of 15,2 M€, will last 3 years and will include the companies Italtel and Avens, the University of Palermo, the National Research Center of Messina and the Municipalities of Palermo and Bagheria.

The goal of the research is the optimization of the interaction between building energy demand, non-programmable energy production from renewable sources and energy storage: A also energy efficiency actions will be implemented. The main intervention will be on one of the Engineering buildings of the University of Palermo. Efficiency measures will include on consumption reduction, smart public lighting systems, innovative energy storage and demand control systems, smart electric vehicle plug-in systems.

The qualifying element of the proposal is an innovative communication infrastructure able to optimize the service according to production and consumption profiles.
