Exalto has won the R&D tender of the Region of Sicily to develop “Blorin” (Blockchain technology for renewable energies)

Exalto has won the R&D tender of the Region of Sicily to develop “Blorin” (Blockchain technology for renewable energies). The company will be project leader and the other companies involved are SEA (grid operator in the island of Favignana), Selis (grid operator in the island of Lampedusa), Regalgrid and the University of Palermo.

The project aims to create a digital platform for the management of solar Smart Communities that will help interactions between prosumers and also manage recharge infrastructure for electric vehicles and to coordinate exchanges with local utilities.

In order to do so, a blockchain infrastructure will be used, taking into account the balancing needs of the grid.

In Lampedusa, a micro gird will be tested. It will manage small photovoltaic systems with storage, with the possibility to manage the demand response profiles. In Favignana, the goal is to manage electric vehicles charging and their ability to give energy to the grid.
